Once you’ve equipped the outfit, weapon and health items you desire, your Dweller will venture the Wasteland encountering randomly-generated enemies, acquiring randomly-generated items and will take care of itself, essentially. Much like Progress Quest, your Dweller will explore the Wasteland completely independent of player interaction. During the 2015 Bethesda E3 Presentation, Todd Howard revealed the gameplay of the Wasteland was inspired by Progress Quest, a set-it-and-forget-it style of RPG/Adventure game.
