Just because you have the mana to do something, doesn't mean you have to do it. This gives the ability for any of my things to be answered. For this I have removed all of my haste enablers except ], that card is just too funny. Occasionally I just like exploding into a daunting field and watching it all burn away as the game becomes a temporary arch enemy, or I usually just get taken out. I may be alone in this, but I don't always care about winning. Give your opponents a chance to respond to your field. Or look at alternate wins cons like ], ], milling opponents with ] or have fun and animate lands. Selvala has the versatility of going wide or tall or both and completely overrunning with combat.
My only tutors are land grabs in ] and ] (before anyone says anything I play mainly 1v1 at my LGS and Prime Time isn't banned in 1v1. This is one of the easiest ways to make her fair by not being able to grab what you need at any moment. Remove or limit your ability to tutor in favor of more big card draw. I personally run 9 ways to untap her, but they all are either one offs or only once a turn. Some tips I recommend to keep the deck fairer:Īvoid things like ], ], ], ], ] and other effects that lets you bounce your permanents or untap Selvala more than once in a turn. I really can't go infinite in mana with this iteration, but that doesn't stop be from producing gratuitous amounts of it and having "fun" turns. Here is my current Decklist that I am running. If you build to Selvala's strengths, aka mana production, even without going infinite you will be prone to very explosive turns.
I can tell you breaking her is easy, playing her fairly takes more work. I have run Selvala for almost 2 years as my main EDH general, through many iterations of the deck from cut throat competitive to hydra tribal to its current green good stuff with a big stompy creature sub theme.
